On January 23, 2017, the "PRC, Portal of the Research of the Universities of Catalonia" was officially presented. The event held in the modernist complex of the Hospital de Sant Pau, in Barcelona.

Its purpose is to visualize and disseminate from a unique place the research activity carried out in Catalonia in terms of researchers, publications, groups and research projects for the international scientific community, companies, financial organizations and the public in general, thus facilitating the Open Access to scientific production. In the long run, the objective is also to simplify management processes and to support evaluation processes.

The benefits to be provided by the Portal de la Recerca de les Universitats de Catalunya are:

Give visibility to the potential of the Catalan research system as a whole.

Reinforcing the unified management of research data in Catalan universities

Increase access and visibility of researchers' work.

For the moment, the PRC covers the information of all Catalan universities, both public and private, waiting, in a second phase, to be able to include information on other research centers in Catalonia. Among the most important data can be found that it contains information obtained from 11 Catalan universities, 384 departments and institutes, 28,879 research projects, 1,442 research groups, 8,826 researchers, 421,564 publications and 23,653 theses.
