CSIC, Crue and Springer Nature sign transformative agreement to boost open access publishing in Spanish research institutions

The CSIC and Crue Universidades Españolas have signed an agreement with Springer Nature to promote the growth of open access scientific publishing in Spain. Between CSIC, with 120 research centers and institutes that make it the largest research institution in Spain, and Crue, which integrates 58 universities in this agreement, they bring together some 200,000 researchers across the country.

The agreement will allow scientists from both institutions to publish in open access the articles accepted in 2,300 hybrid journals from the Springer Nature and Adis catalog, with the exception of the Nature Journals, Academic Journals and Palgrave families of journals. This will allow the research results of leading Spanish research institutions to be read without restriction, cited and developed worldwide.

The CSIC and Crue research community will have access to read all the content published in Springer.

During its four-year term, until December 2024, this agreement will cover around 86% of the articles published by CSIC and Spanish university correspondence authors.

Details and specific conditions for joining the agreement as a researcher will be published soon. Complete and updated information on all the transformative agreements reached by CSIC can be consulted at the following address:
