New CSIC journals digitised in Simurg

The Simurg portal incorporates three new titles of periodicals related to the history of science in Spain and the science developed within the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) since its foundation.
These collections, conserved and preserved in GRANADO, the CSIC's cooperative conservation repository, have been digitised, making it easier for materials of great interest and historical relevance to be consulted and used by the scientific community and the general public.
Firstly, ‘Anales de bromatología’, published by the CSIC for the Spanish Society of Bromatology between 1949 and 1992, is now available. During the 20th century, Bromatology established itself as a university discipline in Spain, in the field of Pharmacy studies, due to the relationship that foodstuffs have on public health, as well as in the development of analytical methods to detect adulteration or other quality defects in foodstuffs. An intense scientific activity was developed in collaboration with different Spanish and foreign research organisations; the Spanish Society of Bromatology was created (1948), the School of Bromatology (1954), and important scientific journals were born, such as ‘Anales de Bromatología’ (More information). The second title is ‘Investigación pesquera’, published by the Patronato Juan de la Cierva between 1955 and 1988. This journal is the immediate predecessor of the journal ‘Scientia Marina’, managed by the Institute of Marine Sciences of Barcelona (Más información)
Finally, the ‘Revista de ciencia aplicada’ was also published by the Patronato Juan de la Cierva between 1947 and 1968. It compiles miscellaneous works, mainly dedicated to applied technologies developed at the CSIC.
This project has led to the addition of more than 50,000 new images to the CSIC's digitised collection portal, as part of its commitment to continue increasing access to the scientific heritage collections housed by the institution and related to its own history.
