On Monday, 18th November 2019, the Institute for Advanced Chemistry of Catalonia (IQAC) from the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) organizes a workshop on “Ethical Aspects of Research”.
Research ethics is based on universal principles that apply in all parts of the world. Although these principles are universal, the availability of the resources necessary to preserve these principles throughout the research process are not always universal or carried out equally.
The workshop is organized by the Nanobiotechnology for Diagnostics group (IQAC), led by Prof. M. Pilar Marco and is organized within the framework of the project FoodSmartphone. This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Sklodowska-Curie grant agreement.
FoodSmartphone proposes the development of smartphone-based (bio)analytical sensing and diagnostic tools, for simplified on-site pre-screening of food quality and safety parameters and wireless data transfer to servers of relevant stakeholders. The main objectives are to study the supra-disciplinary challenge of smartphone-based analysis systems having advanced biorecognition, signal transduction, microfluidic sample handling and image data handling solutions and to develop user-friendly, rapid integrated sample preparation and smartphone-compatible Apps, to ultimately ensure adequate field implementation for both professionals and future Citizen Science.
There will be three sessions given by experts from this topic area. Everyone is invited to this event and furthermore it will also be web streamed. A Certificate of Attendance will be issued for each participant.
