The CSIC and Crue Universidades Españolas have signed an agreement with Springer Nature to promote the growth of open access scientific publishing in Spain. Between CSIC, with 120 research centers and institutes that make it the largest research institution in Spain, and Crue, which integrates 58 universities in this agreement, they bring together some 200,000 researchers across the country.

The Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) and CRUE have signed an agreement with John Wiley & Sons to promote open access publications in 59 Spanish universities and the CSIC, the largest research institution in Spain.

The agreement reached will allow a high volume of articles published by CSIC correspondence authors in hybrid titles to be published in open access.
    Until December 31, 2024, the CSIC will be able to continue accessing the 1,800 ScienceDirect journals.

Within the White Paper Scientific Challenges CSIC 2030, which offers the reflections raised from the institution around 14 strategic themes chosen for their scientific impact and social importance is the chapter dedicated to Open Science: Open Science: Reproducibility, transparency and reliability, which is part of Topic 10 of the book: Complex and digital information, which has been coordinated by the Unit of Scientific Information Resources for Research (URICI).
