World Environment Day - 5 June 2019

The United Nations, aware that the protection and improvement of the human environment is a major issue, which affects the well-being of peoples and economic development throughout the world, designated 5 June as World Environment Day. The celebration of this day provides us with an opportunity to broaden the basis for an enlightened opinion and responsible conduct by individuals, enterprises and communities in preserving and enhancing the environment. Since it began in 1974, it has grown to become a global platform for public outreach that is widely celebrated in more than 100 countries.

On the occasion of this date and, on the other hand, the commemoration of the periodic table of chemical elements system by Dmitri I. Mendeleyev 150 years ago, IDAEA, together with Dones D'Avui.CAT, the Societat Catalana de Química and Aigües de Barcelona will celebrate the 9th edition of the Workshop Environment and Society: guidelines for environmental management (Jornada Medi ambient i societat: pautes per a la gestió ambiental).

With the aim of promoting equal opportunities between men and women and above all, with the purpose of visualizing the research led and developed by women, all the talks of this workshop will be carried out by women.
